Shaikh Zayed is a quietly prestigious villa suburb located just west of central Damascus. The suburb has some of the benefits of suburban life without being out of touch with urban life. Shaikh Zayed is about 15–20 km west of downtown Damascus along the al-Dimas road. It is connected to the city center by a good two-lane road in about 25–30 minutes by car, depending on traffic. Daily minibus and private shuttle services run, linking residents to large districts such as Mezzeh, Abu Rummaneh, and Barzeh
